Prestwich Property Management

A guide for Greater Manchester property owners

Who stays in short-term accommodation?

Short stays are not only for people on holiday. Some guests need a comfortable place to live while they settle into a new city or work away from home.

Serviced accommodation is a furnished home booked for shorter stays. For some guests, it fills the gap between where they are now and where they plan to be next. We focus on two kinds of guests: families relocating and professionals working away for an extended period.

A home while a family settles in

When we moved back to the UK from Berlin, we needed a comfortable temporary home while we explored the city and looked for a long-term place to live. We could not find somewhere that felt right for our family. Friends who had moved to the city told us they had faced the same problem.

That’s why we set out to offer the kind of home we’d been looking for: a place where a family can spend time together and manage ordinary routines while deciding what comes next. A kitchen can make it easier to prepare meals. Laundry facilities and room to eat together can matter when a stay lasts beyond a few nights.

A place to live while working away

We have worked remotely and travelled extensively for work ourselves. That experience helps us understand why professionals working away may want a home away from home, with somewhere to work and space to unwind.

Wi-Fi, somewhere to work or take a call, and a kitchen can help support a normal working routine. The details that matter will depend on the person and the length of their stay.

The right guests, and care for the home

Our homes are for people who need somewhere to live while they’re away from their own home. We don’t accept parties, stag or hen dos, or one-night stays.

We vet every guest, carry out ID checks and take security deposits. We also check that specialist insurance is in place for short-term stays.

Our cleaning and maintenance teams visit regularly to look after the home, spot anything that needs attention and keep it looking its best. That care continues throughout the time we manage the property.

What owners can consider

Thinking about the guest helps you look at a property through their eyes. Could someone prepare a meal, sit down to eat and find a place to work? Is there room for a family to spend time together? Clear information about what a home offers helps guests decide whether it fits their needs.

Guest needs are one part of the picture. Owners also need to consider whether short stays suit the property, what permissions may be needed and what preparation and running costs are involved. Our property-readiness guide sets out useful checks. You can also see what our management service covers.
